Regional Sales Manager (RSM) - Western Region

Job Title:        Regional Sales Manager (RSM)
                      Western Region 
                      WA, OR, CA, ID, NV, MT, WY, UT, AZ

Department:    Sales

Reports to:      Director of Sales

Ross Regional Sales Managers are responsible for capital equipment sales, ongoing account services, direct marketing and product promotions for Ross Industries equipment.   Promote sales of equipment both domestic and internationally under the leadership of the Director of Sales.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sell Ross portion control equipment to food processing industry
  • Continually visit customers within designated region to assess needs for Ross equipment
  • Follows, identifies customer needs, submit proposals, and close orders
  • Pricing and related incentives other than published pricing or per approved guidelines with the Director of Sales
  • Conduct demonstrations of Ross equipment, both at Ross Industries and customers’ facilities as required
  • Identify applications of Ross equipment for new potential customers
  • Work scheduled trade shows
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions as required
  • Work closely with service technicians on new product installations
  • Prepare and submit sales forecasts for equipment on a monthly basis
  • Submit weekly sales call reports
  • Utilize CRM for all sales activities
  • Ability to travel extensively, minimum of 5 days per week (Monday – Friday) to customer locations.  Position travel requirement is 90% with some weekend work and travel
  • Work effectively and relate well with others
  • Exhibit professional manner in dealing with others and maintain constructive working relationships

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent experience and education


  • Sales in capital equipment strongly preferred
  • Innovative, energetic, and goal oriented driven sales experience
  • Industry experience a plus
  • 5 + years experience in selling capital equipment in food processing industry
  • Proven track record
  • Strong technical background
  • Well organized, detail oriented, with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent customer service and customer relationship aptitude

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time walking and standing
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist at the waist
  • Ability to work in varied production environments (extreme cold and heat)
  • Ability to spend extended period of time traveling by plane, car, domestic and internationally

Other Requirements:

  • Possess valid driver’s license
  • Possess valid passport or ability to obtain one

Electro-Mechanical Technician

Assemble and manufacture industrial food processing and packaging equipment to include but not limited to automated, servo-mechanical or electromechanical equipment, hydraulic cylinders, electrical assemblies, etc.  Technicians may assist engineers in testing and design of equipment.


  • Assemble electrical and mechanical assemblies/ prototypes according to routings, blueprints, and engineering drawings
  • Fit and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and templates
  • Install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of as assembly
  • Perform bench type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub- assemblies.  Repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Test functional performance of electromechanical assemblies and machines.
  • Maintain and monitor test equipment as necessary to ensure accuracy
  • Set up and perform test of prototype product and equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment and provide support as required
  • Use hand tools, chemicals, adhesives and epoxies

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years of progressive hands on experience in electro-mechanical field
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including  wiring and mechanical assembly drawings
  • Knowledge of electronic and electrical circuits 
  • Ability to wire electrical schematics 
  • Ability to work in Assembly environment, standing for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to work required overtime to include evenings, and weekends
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical difficulties with machinery
  • Ability to read schematics for electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic machines
  • Hands on experience with controls systems
  • Graduate from Technical School or AA in related field

Job Summary:

As a Product Manager within our Tray Sealer Equipment lines, you will be responsible for the overall project engineering management experience, supporting multiple salespeople through a thorough discovery process with prospective customers. You will contribute to the selling process by providing complex, technical proposals and quotes. You will guide a sales team through a discovery process with prospective customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Understands applications engineering for packaging equipment well and can communicate knowledge in various ways.
  • Prepares complex quotes and proposals to customers based on specific engineering of packaging equipment.
  • Continually communicates with sales team and with external customers; working towards a positive end result.
  • Must be able to articulate value to business owners and senior executives, in small and large group settings.
  • Be actively involved with industry associations.
  • Ensure reports and documentation are accurate and concise.
  • Assemble and define all relevant project requirements to insure project is delivered to customer’s project specifications.

Key Qualifications:

  • Project Management engineering and/or sales experience.
  • Has sold or engineered packaging equipment or film supplier with significant customer interface.
  • Effectively generates leads through networking with trade groups, suppliers and other industry contacts.
  • Is subject matter expert in MAP and VSP packaging.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills.
  • Ability to identify market trends.
  • Ability and willingness to be hands’ on in situations that require immediate attention

Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ Years of related sales experience, applications engineering for packaging equipment, thermoforming equipment or film/tray supplier applications.
  • BS in related field
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
